We Tested Our Green Tea Powder Cleanser: What the Numbers Say

Our founder started snmn after losing track of their own health, and of themselves, in the middle of a long, busy stretch. Looking back, the first thing to go wasn’t a big habit. It was the small evening ritual of actually taking care of yourself.

That’s the reason our green tea powder cleanser exists: a five-minute way to wash the day off and be a little kinder to yourself. It’s also the reason we didn’t want to just say it works. We wanted to check.

    Why we had it tested

Skincare is full of big promises, and most of us have learned to scroll past them. If we were going to ask you to spend your evenings with this powder, we wanted real measurements behind it, taken by people who don’t work for us.

So we had it tested by Cutis Biomedical Research Center in Korea, under the country’s cosmetics testing guidelines. Two studies, each answering a different question.

Study one: does it irritate skin?

This was a patch test. Thirty-three adults wore a diluted sample of the product on their upper back, and trained evaluators checked the skin at 1 hour and 24 hours.

In a patch test with 33 adults, no skin irritation was observed.

A patch test is a first safety check, not a promise. It was done with a diluted sample on healthy adults, so it doesn’t tell you how your skin, especially if it’s reactive, will respond. If you have sensitive skin, patch test at home first, and talk to a dermatologist if you’re unsure.

Study two: what does a green tea powder cleanser actually do?

Twenty-four women used the cleanser twice a day for four weeks, with measurements taken by instrument rather than by opinion.

How well it cleans. It removed 98.7% of fine-dust particles in the test, compared with 48.1% for soap and 11.4% for water. Sunscreen removal was 96.7%, compared with 14.1% for water alone. Skin-surface sebum dropped by an average of 62.7% after cleansing.

How skin felt after one use. After a single use, skin hydration rose by an average of 30.6%. After a single use, the amount of keratin on the skin surface fell by an average of 62.6%. After a single use, the skin-roughness measurement dropped by an average of 14.1%.

After four weeks. After four weeks, pore area decreased in 22 of 24 participants, by an average of 15.2%.

What these numbers don’t tell you

We’d rather be upfront about the limits. These results come from women aged 20 to 59, and the study was a before-and-after comparison, not a head-to-head trial against a placebo. People with sensitive skin were not part of it. Results vary from person to person, and none of this means the cleanser treats or fixes any skin condition.

What it does suggest is simple: a gentle powder cleanser can do the basic job of cleansing very well, and your skin may feel smoother and more comfortable afterward.

    How we use it

The routine hasn’t changed. A small amount of powder in wet hands, a little water, and a soft lather. Massage for about a minute, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry. On sunscreen days, we cleanse once with an oil or balm first, then use the powder as the second step.

It’s a five-minute thing. That was always the point. We keep the sink clear, the towel within reach, and the phone in another room, because the routine only works if it feels like a pause.

    Try it tonight

If you’ve been looking for an evening skincare routine that feels like a pause instead of a chore, the snmn green tea powder cleanser is our answer. Read the full ingredient list before you buy, patch test if your skin is reactive, and see how your skin feels after a week.
